         Tomatoes, Onions And Potatos are considered important in terms of cooking essentials. As onion which is commonly used in all types vegetables or tomato which is used in salad and other dishes. But when the prices of these vegetables go up, the common man's pocket suffers. When the price of any of these vegetables suddenly increases, it definitely puts a strain on the monthly budget of every Indian family. Last year onions made us cry and now tomatoes are making us cry. As currently market rates of tomato rise per kg is 20 Rs from first week of may month, But till end of june months it takes sudden rise from 50 per kg to 100-120 Rs. Thus, Know the following reasons why tomato price rise suddenly.

         According to the report, the main reason for the current high prices is the rise in temperature in March and April months, which led to insect pests attacks on the produce, Also Uneven rainfall may forcing many growers to abandon their matured crops.

         According to report, Area under Tomato Production is about 3,50,000 hectors and production of tomatoes is an average 53,00,000 tones. As Indian Farmers grows two crops of tomatoes according to their season. Farmers transplant first crop in rabbi season which is grown in junnar village in Maharashtra And also Tomatoes transplantation done in Andhra Pradesh And some parts of Karnataka State.


           As these tomatoes comes in market between March to August months. The second crop of tomatoes generally grown first mansoon of rainy season it means in kharif season. As in thses season crop Cultivated in Uttar Pradesh state and Nashik and tomatoes comes in the market at the end of the year means in between September to November month. As these part of our country are major suppliers of tomatoes.

          As first transplanted batch of young seedlings into the raised beds during January to March month, which supplies the first tomatoes produce in April to june months.As the rabi season crop offers good returns to the farmers. However during this year due to sudden rise in temperature in March-April, the tomatoes crops of farmers have suffers from leaf curl virus and cucumber virus which ultimately damaged the plants. most of the tomatoes coming in the market are of poor quality. So, farmers sold all of them considering the less of prices and supply which later led to a shortage of fresh produce of tomatoes. But During these year in summer season temperature may suddenly rise which indirectly affects on production of tomatoes. Also uneven rainfall in these days cause sudden attack of pest of crops which leds to decrease the production of tomatoes. And thus tomatoes prices may rise in Indian market due to less production of tomatoes.

  • Are There Any Chances of Price Decrease In August First Week ?

          Prices will come down only when kharif tomatoes comes in the market of which planting has started after the arrival of monsoon. Therefore, fresh produce will be brought to the market only after mid-August, thereby driving down retail prices.
